The Xtacles is an animated television series that aired on Cartoon Network in 2008. The show is a spin-off of the Adult Swim series, The Venture Bros., and it follows the adventures of a group of agents known as the Xtacles. The series was created by Jackson Publick, who also created The Venture Bros., and was produced by Hammer and Tongs. The show is set in the same universe as The Venture Bros. and features some of the same characters, including Brock Samson and Dr. Venture. However, the focus of the series is on a group of agents who work for a secret organization called the Xtacle Corp. The Xtacles are a team of highly trained soldiers who are tasked with protecting the world from threats both foreign and domestic. The series is primarily a comedy, with a lot of slapstick humor and over-the-top action sequences. The Xtacles themselves are a group of bumbling buffoons who manage to get themselves into all sorts of ridiculous situations. Their leader, Jackknife, is a hyperactive and impulsive man-child who is more interested in showing off than he is in actually doing his job. The rest of the team includes several colorful characters, including the uptight and by-the-book Ace, the dim-witted and trigger-happy Rip, and the lovable but useless J.R. The team is rounded out by the tough-as-nails female agent, Waco, and the newbie, Cooch. Cooch is notable for being a bipedal jaguar who wears a leather jacket and smokes cigars. The Xtacles are often sent on missions that are way above their pay grade, and they always manage to make things worse. In one episode, they are tasked with protecting a VIP who is staying at a hotel. However, they end up burning the entire building down and causing millions of dollars in damage. The show also features a host of recurring characters, including the Xtacles' boss, Mr. Ford, who is constantly exasperated with their incompetence. There is also a rival organization called the Combat Unit, which is made up of a group of highly trained soldiers who are always one step ahead of the Xtacles. One of the standout aspects of the show is the voice acting. The Xtacles are voiced by a talented cast of comedians, including Rachael Harris, Gary Anthony Williams, and Michael Ian Black. The performances are often exaggerated and over-the-top, which adds to the overall silliness of the show. Overall, The Xtacles is a hilarious and absurd animated series that is sure to appeal to fans of The Venture Bros. and other Adult Swim shows. While it was short-lived, the series has amassed a cult following in the years since it aired. It may not be for everyone, but for those who enjoy irreverent humor and ridiculous action sequences, The Xtacles is definitely worth checking out.
