The Saint is a British detective drama television show that aired on ITV from 1962 to 1969. The show starred Roger Moore as Simon Templar, a suave and dashing private detective with a penchant for mischief and adventure. Ivor Dean played Inspector Claude Eustace Teal, a police officer who often finds himself at odds with Templar. Each episode of The Saint featured Templar getting into sticky situations while investigating a variety of crimes ranging from theft to murder. What set the show apart from other detective shows at the time was Templar's unique approach to solving cases. He was not afraid to step outside the law and often used his charm and intellect to manipulate those around him in order to get the information he needed. One of the most enduring aspects of The Saint is Roger Moore's portrayal of Simon Templar. Moore's natural charisma and good looks made him the perfect fit for the role. He embodied the character's suave and rakish personality, making him a fan favorite from the start. Over the course of the series, Moore's performance only improved, as he became more comfortable in the role and the writers began to tailor the scripts to his strengths. The other key character in The Saint is Inspector Teal, played by Ivor Dean. Teal is the de facto antagonist to Templar, always trying to catch him in the act of committing a crime. Despite this, the two characters share a mutual respect and often work together to solve cases. Dean's portrayal of Teal is understated and effective, providing a nice counterbalance to Moore's more flamboyant performance. In addition to the lead performances, The Saint is notable for its style and sense of adventure. The show features an iconic theme tune, composed by Edwin Astley, that perfectly captures the sense of excitement and danger that permeates the series. The show also made great use of location shooting, often taking Templar to glamorous and exotic locations such as Paris, Venice, and The Bahamas. Despite its popularity, The Saint was not without its detractors. Some critics felt that the show's formulaic structure and lack of depth made it too lightweight for serious consideration. Others felt that it was too derivative of other popular detective shows of the time, such as The Avengers and Danger Man. Despite these criticisms, The Saint remains a beloved relic of 1960s British television, a charming and stylish adventure series that perfectly captures the spirit of its era. Overall, The Saint is a classic example of 1960s British television at its best. With its dashing hero, exotic locations, and sense of adventure, the show remains as fresh and entertaining today as it was over 50 years ago. Whether you're a fan of classic television, detective shows, or Roger Moore himself, The Saint is definitely worth checking out.

Car rally racing means dangerous bends ahead for the Saint - with a beautiful blonde involved in mysterious happenings.Simon Templar, the Saint (ROGER MOORE), is never happier than when behind the wheel of a powerful car - and he is certainly happy when trying out the rally car designed by George Hapgood (JAMES KERRY) for his engineer- mechanic father (EDDIE BYRNE). But the car crashes, and it's obviously sabotage, which is no surprise to an ice- cool blonde named Kay Collingwood (PATRICIA MINES) who is watching with a young man named Tom Stevens (WILLIAM WILDE).George, frustrated and disillusioned, is prepared to throw his hand in. The design car is a wreck and he doesn't feel that there is time to get the practice car into shape before the impending Rally, though his father wants to do so. It looks as though the way is open for the backer, the wealthy Harold Laker (GEORGE A. COOPER), to sponsor George's cousin, Justin Pritchard (JOHN RONANE), a rival designer, but to Kay Collingwood's annoyance Laker insists that the Saint should be the driver. Somehow, Simon has got to be "dissuaded."Who is Kay? When he realises that she is some?how concerned in the affair, the Saint pursues his inquiries. He mows Kay of old: a highly enterprising young adventuress whose activities encompass anything that is likely to bring a rich reward. Now, it seems, she is tied up with Justin Pritchard, ostensibly as a public relations consultant. And that, Simon guesses, covers every possible effort to give his new car the edge over his cousin's.Tom Stevens is the man doing the dirty work for her, and that includes trying to kill the Saint, though this is something that brings her into conflict with him. Tom accuses her of expecting him to be a magician. She doesn't want Simon hurt, but now she wants Justin Pritchard's car to meet with the same fate as his cousin's. But why? The Saint discovers that there are some very complex and dangero

The Saint spins a record no disc jockey would play - a record that beats out a rhythm of murder and mystery, with pop singing and meditation as the instruments. An artist named Alan Williams asks Simon Templar, the Saint (ROGER MOORE), to visit him, hinting that he has discovered a large-scale swindle. But Williams is dead, knifed in the back, when the Saint arrives. The Saint's search of the artist's studio is interrupted by a model, Josephine (ANNE DE VIGIER), from downstairs, and together they examine a message which Williams has scrawled in yellow ochre on the floor: "BRENDA's P....A...." Josephine identifies this as referring to the painting of a very beautiful girl, but all she knows is that this is the Portrait of Brenda. The telephone rings. It is a recorded message asking Williams to take his friend to the recording studios. The message is from pop singer Diane Huntley (ANNA CARTERET), and the friend is obviously the Saint, who leaves Josephine to telephone Inspector Claude Eustace Teal (IVOR DEAN) while he goes to meet Diane. Quite unaware that Williams is dead, she assumes that he has told the Saint that she will take him to a meditation session held by a Guru by a Guru (MARNE MAITLAND).The Guru, the Saint surmises, is in some way connected with the racket Williams has stumbled on, and he is astonished to realise how large the sums are that are being donated by 'disciples." The money is collected by the Guru's assistant, Mrs. White (PETRA DAVIES).The Saint, breaking the news of Williams' death to Diane, takes her with him to the artist's studio, and Diane is able to give more information about Brenda, the girl in the portrait. She was a singer who committed suicide - and she was Williams' sister. They shared the same agent, Johnny Fox (TREVOR BANNISTER). When the Saint returns to the studio to investigate, he is surprised by a man named Tony (DAVID PROWSE).They fight, then another man steps in and t

WARREN) is an American movie tycoon who, somewhere along the line of his many marriages, has become the father of a daughter, Jenny (JUDEE MORTON), now a highly attractive if wayward young lady with a mind of her own and a special place in Ben Kersh's affections. His reactions are predictable when Jenny is kidnapped: he's worried out of his life, but canny enough to realise that the ransom demand may not necessarily mean the return of his daughter when the money is handed over. That's why he appeals to Simon Templar, the Saint (ROGER MOORE), for help. The ransom note takes an unusual form. It's a short film showing Jenny being held prisoner and pleading for her father to pay over the ransom money. The film has arrived with the "rushes" of film shot on location in Nice, and though all members of the unit deny any knowledge of it, the Saint can't help feeling that someone from the studios must be implicated. The kidnappers' instructions are followed, with the Saint as the go-between who goes to the Nice hotel with the ransom money. Once there, he receives further instructions to go to a deserted airfield at a fixed time. The Saint takes his own precautions, among them a skilfully-designed wristwatch gadget provided by the film's special effects expert, Frank Lomax (JOHN SAVIDENT), which is in fact a miniature camera. He foils an attempt to hi-jack the money on his way to the airfield and arrives there to find two men waiting for him. One is a young man named Jean Latour (S,4NDOR ELES); the other, a tough German (DEREK NEWARK). Their demand for the money is met with the Saint's insistence that he should first be taken to Jenny. The two men reluctantly agree. The Saint is blind?folded and taken to a remote farmhouse, where Jenny is being guarded by a tough named Largo (TONY WRIGHT).

As this is happening, the Saint is questioning Laura about her man-friend, and he learns that Bonner is a boat-broker who hasn't sold a boat in months - but still seems to be making money. But Banner is also facing financial problems because he is being blackmailed by Slater. The Saint, more than ever convinced that Bonner has something to do with the shooting he has overheard, follows a trail which leads him to the clearing-house used by Bonner, where he finds a very ill Pakistani named Chaudri (NIK ZARAN), who rejects the Saint's offer to take him to a doctor. Four directors of a big business combine die from apparent heart attacks. A coincidence or fiendishly clever murders? The Saint takes a hand when a fifth director meets his death. In an era in which take-over bids result in increasingly large combines, some people are bound to suffer. But there is nothing suspicious, at first, about the deaths of four directors of the mighty Combined Holdings - untilthe Saint, Simon Templar (ROGER MOORE), receives a request to visit his old friend Sir John Mulliner JOHN BOXER). Simon doesn't notice a blind man, with a white cane, shuffling along the pavement. The reason for Mulliner's request is made clear when he asks the Saint to accompany him to a meeting of the other directors. It is a postcard showing the blindfolded figure of Justice, holding the scales, with just one word: "You." Mulliner has no sooner passed it over than he falls forward - dead. The Saint keeps the appointment with the other directors at the luxurious penthouse home of Gilbert Kirby (ANDREW KEIR) and in doing so meets Kirby's daughter Anne (JEAN MARSH) and the other directors, John Ramsey (RONALD LEIGH-HUNT), Carl Howard (GEOFFREY CHATER), Neal Lammerton (JOHN BARRON) and Elliott Stratton (MARK BURNS).They are shocked at his news, but vote against allowing the Saint to investigate the series of what appear to be natural deaths which now total five, the first of which was of Elliott Stratton's father, who collapsed at a board meeting soon after his firm had been taken over. The Saint, however, goes ahead on his own and receives medical confirmation that all the men died of heart attacks. Lammerton is the next to receive a Scales of Justice postcard, and dies while opening a new club house for a charity organisation. They succeed, however, in getting away and, in doing so, learn where Tony is living. And they reach him just in time. A would-be killer plays a cat-and-mouse game with the Saint. But who is the mysterious avenger? The world is undoubtedly full of ungodly ones who have found, to their cost, that the Saint, Simon Templar (ROGER MOORE), will not hesitate to bring them to justice. There is, therefore, a large field of possible avengers on which to draw when trying to guess who might be responsible for the death threats he is now receiving. The first warning comes in a box which he finds in his car when accompanied by the glamorous American journalist Mary Ellen Brent (SUZANNE LLOYD), who is writing a feature on the Saint. The box contains a snake - harmless in itself, but accompanied by a note: "This is just the beginning... I have more surprises for you and the final one -the best of all - will be the death of the famous Simon Templar." Needless to says, it is unsigned. Any suggestion that it is a hoax is soon dismissed when the Saint has a narrow escape from being run down by a car, and then a mysterious telephone call from a man who says: "I want to come to your funeral, Mr. Templar. I want you dead...."This is followed by an attempt to give the Saint an electric shock, but the man tampering with a lamp in his apartment is caught in the act when Simon returns unexpectedly and recognises him as a small'time muscle-man named Charlie Mason (TERENCE RIGBY). Charlie says he has been given a hundred pounds to do the job, but doesn't know who by. He promises Simon that he will let him know if he hears anything more and keeps his word when he telephones Simon to give him an address. Simon goes to the address -and finds Charlie Mason dead. Description

The Saint is a series that is currently running and has 6 seasons (161 episodes). The series first aired on October 4, 1962.
