Texhnolyze is a Japanese anime television series that aired on Fuji TV in 2003. It is a dark and brooding story that takes place in an underground city called Lux. The show explores themes such as violence, power, and identity in a world where people have lost their humanity. The series is set in a dystopian future, where the surface of the earth has become uninhabitable due to some unknown catastrophic event. The remaining humans live in underground cities, where they struggle to survive amidst constant strife and violence. The city of Lux is ruled by three factions- the Organo, the Salvation Union, and the Raffia. These organizations are involved in a power struggle for control of the city. The series follows the experiences of several characters, who are all affected by the power struggles in the city. Ichise, the main protagonist, is a young prizefighter who gets caught up in the conflict between the factions. He is left for dead after a brutal fight, but is given a second chance when he is fitted with Texhnolyze, a type of advanced cybernetic prosthesis. However, he soon discovers that his new enhancements have left him vulnerable to the machinations of the power-hungry factions. On the other side of the city, we have Ran, the head of the Organo. She is a ruthless and powerful woman who will stop at nothing to maintain her hold on the city. Her subordinate, Onishi, is the leader of the Raffia faction, but is caught in a precarious position between the Organo and the Salvation Union. The Salvation Union is represented by a young girl, Eriko, who is seeking to change the status quo in the city. She is aided by a researcher named Shinji, who is studying the origins of Texhnolyze and its effects on the human body. Through their work, they uncover a conspiracy that threatens to destroy the balance of power in Lux. The show is known for its dark and nihilistic themes, which are reinforced by its stark and minimalist art style. The animation is fluid and detailed, with a muted color palette that reflects the dreary and oppressive environment of the underground city. The sound design is also noteworthy, with a haunting and ambient soundtrack that adds to the show's dark and brooding atmosphere. Texhnolyze is a challenging and thought-provoking series that poses difficult questions about the nature of power and identity. It is a show that rewards careful viewing and contemplation, and is not recommended for those seeking light entertainment. However, for those willing to engage with its themes, the show offers a unique and unforgettable experience that will linger long after the final credits roll.
