Sky Rojo is a Spanish-language television series that premiered on Netflix in 2021. The show was created by Álex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato, the duo behind Netflix's popular crime drama La Casa de Papel (Money Heist). The show's first season consists of eight episodes, each with a runtime of around 25-30 minutes. The show is set in Spain and follows three women, Coral (Verónica Sánchez), Wendy (Lali Espósito), and Gina (Yany Prado), who work at a brothel called Las Novias Club. One night, their boss Romeo (Asier Etxeandia) tries to force himself on Coral, leading the women to attack him and flee from the brothel. They are pursued by Romeo and his henchmen, Moisés (Miguel Ángel Silvestre) and Christian (Enric Auquer), who are determined to capture them and bring them back to the brothel. The rest of the season follows the women as they try to escape from Romeo and his men and make a run for it. They end up stealing a car and hitting the road, with Romeo and his men hot on their tail. As they travel across Spain, they have to navigate dangerous situations and make alliances with unlikely allies in order to stay alive. One of the standout aspects of Sky Rojo is its fast-paced, action-packed storytelling. The show never slows down, with each episode packed full of car chases, shootouts, and fistfights. The action scenes are expertly choreographed and filmed, making for some truly thrilling moments. But the show isn't just all action - there's a lot of heart to it as well. The three main characters are all complex and well-drawn, and the show does a great job of exploring their backstories and motivations. Coral, Wendy, and Gina are all victims of circumstance who have ended up in a terrible situation, and the show does a great job of making you root for them and care about what happens to them. Sky Rojo also has a great sense of humor, with some genuinely funny moments scattered throughout the season. The show isn't afraid to be silly or over-the-top at times, which adds to its overall sense of fun and excitement. Another standout aspect of the show is its visual style. The colors are bright and vibrant, and the camera work is often very dynamic and inventive. There's a real sense of energy to the show's visuals, which helps to keep the pace moving and keep you engaged. Overall, Sky Rojo is a thrilling, entertaining ride from start to finish.
