As a result she tries everything she can in order to convince him to come back to her. While she is heartbroken by her husbands separation, she eventually meets him when the two attend a close acquaintance. Despite this meeting, her husband still has no desire to associate with her. However, Scarlett is not fazed by this and continues to reconcile her marriage. This show was based on a novel of the same name. The show has a number of similarities to the novel and is therefore a good adaptation to it. However one difference in the show is the personalities of Scarlett and Anne. Unlike the novel, Scarlett is not having difficulty adjusting to society. Another difference is that Anne flirts with Rhett Butler. There is also a more in depth exploration of the relationship between Rhett and Anne in the show. At the beginning of the series Scarlett goes to a funeral in order to mourn the death of a relative. During the funeral she finds out that her estranged husband Rhett Butler is nowhere to be found. This is likely due to the fact that he wants to keep a distance from her. To make matters worse, Scarlett is not in the best of spirits as the departure of Butler leaving her has made her very sad. As a result she vows to get him back and reconcile the relationship. Over time Scarlett finds out that a person close to her known as Mammy is ill and is on the verge of dying. She then decides to visit her and spend time with her before she dies. Despite this situation, Butler is present with Mammy as well and right before she dies, she asks him if he can look after Scarlett. Although is he agrees on the surface, he has no desire to meet her request. Scarlett then decides to go to Atlanta in order to restore the marriage with Butler.
