"No-Rin" is a hilarious anime series that aired from January to March 2014 in Japan. FUNimation Entertainment later licensed the series for English distribution and streaming. The storyline revolves around Kosaku Hata, a high school student who aspires to become an agriculturalist and follow in his grandfather's footsteps. However, after his grandfather's death, he finds himself in a dilemma as his grandfather was the only one who could teach him his unique farming techniques. Kosaku's love for farming is rekindled when he meets Ringo Kinoshita, a student who left the entertainment industry to enroll in his high school. Ringo, who was once regarded as a national icon and represented as "The Idol of Agriculture," arrives at the school and causes a stir among the students. As Kosaku gets to know Ringo better, he discovers that despite her background, she is incredibly knowledgeable about agricultural techniques. Kosaku becomes amazed and begins to develop feelings for her while simultaneously trying to improve his underperforming class in agriculture. The story, however, is not all about farming. No-Rin has a healthy dose of humor and romance that makes the series incredibly entertaining. The show has several subplots, including one where Kosaku is required to compete in an agriculture competition against a rival school. In the competition, both sides must grow crops and present them to the judges. The rivalry between the two schools is fierce, and things get even more heated when Kosaku's childhood friend Minori Nakazawa, who is part of the rival school's agriculture club, shows up. Another subplot in the series is Kosaku's crush on Ringo. He becomes incredibly smitten with Ringo and confesses his love for her, but she rejects him. This doesn't deter Kosaku, and he continually tries to win her heart. The ensuing antics of Kosaku's relentless pursuit of Ringo and his failed love confessions are hilarious and keep the viewers engaged. The show's characters are incredibly well-developed, and their interactions are a significant highlight of the series. The protagonist, Kosaku Hata, is a well-meaning and honest person who is genuinely passionate about farming. He is quite relatable to those who come from an agricultural background and might inspire viewers to take up farming as a hobby or even as a carrier. Ringo Kinoshita is also an interesting character that adds a bit of glamour and sparkle to the show. She is well-versed in agriculture and has a wealth of knowledge about different farming techniques. She is confident and charming but also has a mysterious side that makes viewers want to know more about her. The show has a host of supporting characters that add to the humor and develop the main character's storylines. Minori Nakazawa, Kosaku's childhood friend, is portrayed as a tsundere, a character type that is initially hostile or cold but then develops romantic feelings towards the protagonist. Minori's character is well-developed and adds a bit of drama to the show's love triangle. Kei Kamatori, a mischievous classmate of Kosaku, has a love for cosplay and often dons various costumes throughout the show. His character adds some humor and a bit of lightheartedness to the series. Overall, No-Rin is a hilarious and charming anime series with likable characters, well-developed storylines, and enough humor and romance to keep viewers engaged. It is an excellent mixture of agriculture, comedy, and romance that makes it a must-watch for anyone looking for a good laugh and a bit of romance. If you're looking to watch an anime that isn't too serious and can help you relax, then No-Rin is just the show for you!
