Late Night with Seth Meyers is an American late-night talk show hosted by the eponymous Seth Meyers, which airs every weeknight on NBC since 2014. The show features Meyers' signature comedy and political commentary as well as celebrity interviews, sketches, music performances, and news satire. The show follows a traditional late-night format, with monologue jokes, comedy segments, celebrity interviews, musical performances, and occasional games. Meyers opens each episode with a monologue, in which he delivers biting and insightful commentary on current events, politics, and pop culture. He often incorporates segments such as "A Closer Look," in which he delves into current news events in more detail, and "Jokes Seth Can't Tell," for jokes that are best left to his writers who belong to different races, genders and sexual orientations. Meyers is joined by his trusty 8G Band, who provide musical accompaniment throughout the show. The group comprises of drummer and bandleader Fred Armisen, bassist Seth Jabour, guitarist Marnie Stern, and keyboardist Syd Butler, producing a unique sound that covers a broad spectrum of musical styles. Late Night with Seth Meyers also features some recurring segments such as "Jokes Seth Can't Tell," "Ya Burnt," in which Meyers and guest comedians roast each other on a variety of topics, "Jokes That Hold Up," which sees Meyers and his guests take aim at outmoded jokes from previous eras, and "Day Drinking," which sees Meyers and a celebrity guest get progressively drunk throughout the day while playing games and talking nonsense. The show's celebrity interviews see Meyers sit down with a variety of guests, ranging from actors, comedians, musicians, and politicians. Meyers' interviewing style is amiable and conversational and often sees him loosen up his guests with some banter before delving into more serious topics such as the state of politics or their latest project. Many times guests also bring some of their personal experiences and some moments bring surprises, emotions, and fun anecdotes. Late Night with Seth Meyers is lauded for its political commentary, with Meyers using his platform to take aim at the Trump administration and other perceived injustices in the world. Meyers' commentary is sharp and insightful, often digging into the deeper issues at play in American politics. Overall, Late Night with Seth Meyers is an enjoyable, witty, and smart late-night show that balances strong political commentary with silly, irreverent humor. Meyers' intelligence and observational skills combined with his witty delivery make for an engaging and entertaining show that is worth watching for anyone who loves a good laugh with a side of a refreshing perspective on world events.
