Hey Duggee is a British animated television series created by Grant Orchard and produced by Studio AKA. The show premiered on CBeebies on December 17, 2014, and is still running with five seasons and 249 episodes to date. The series is aimed at preschool children and follows a group of anthropomorphic animals called the Squirrels, who join the titular character, Duggee, in completing various activities in his clubhouse. The show promotes teamwork, problem solving, and introduces children to different concepts such as recycling, art, music, and more. The series hosts a number of characters, including Duggee, the brown dog, who is the leader of the Squirrel's club, and always wears his uniform and badge. Each episode sees Duggee teaching the Squirrels something new with the help of his other animal friends, such as Tag, the rhino, Betty, the octopus, Happy, the crocodile, and Roly, the hippo. These characters teach the Squirrels valuable life lessons and skills, such as the importance of eating healthily, brush their teeth or even how to be quiet. The Squirrels are a group of young animals that are always eager to learn and explore new things. The show's main characters include Norrie, the pink mouse, who is friendly, curious, and independent. Norrie is very energetic and enjoys dancing, singing and playing with her friends. Then, there is Tag, the blue rhino, who is the biggest of the group, and is also a bit clumsy, but always tries his best to keep up with his team. Betty, the purple octopus, is logical and has a bit of a bossy streak, but she cares for her friends and always wants to help. Happy, the green crocodile, is fun-loving and has a big sense of humor. Finally, Roly, the yellow hippo, is the smallest of the group, but makes up for his size with his big and bold personality. The show's format usually follows the pattern of Duggee presenting a new activity to his club, which usually involves completing the task to earn a specific badge. The badge is a prominent feature of the show and is used to encourage children to start new activities and hobbies. The Squirrels have a Badge Award ceremony at the end of each episode to celebrate their achievement. While the concept of earning badges might be similar to other shows, Hey Duggee adopts a different approach by not making the badge the overall goal of the episode; it's about the journey towards obtaining it that matters. Hey Duggee uses playful and bright animation to catch the attention of young viewers. The colors used are bright, youthful, and eye-catching. Each episode is framed in cheerful and educational ways that appeal to young children. The characters are depicted in a way that's both cute and realistic, making them relatable and easy to like. The show features fun sound effects and upbeat music, which helps to create a friendly and comfortable atmosphere for children. One of the show's unique features is the character Narrator who is voiced by Alexander Armstrong. The Narrator is a friendly and cheerful voice that guides children through the episode, providing explanations, commentary and a few jokes along the way. Armstrong's narration is a perfect balance of warm and humorous, making the show engaging and enjoyable for both children and parents. In conclusion, Hey Duggee is a delightful and engaging preschool show that combines education and entertainment in equal measure. With its bright colors, engaging storyline, friendly characters, and catchy music, Hey Duggee keeps children entertained while teaching them critical life skills. The show's philosophy of making 'learning fun' is definitely one of its strengths, and it's a testament to why it's so popular with both children and parents.

Betty is reading a story out loud to the other Squirrels that is set 'a long, long time ago'. The Squirrels wonder how long ago that is. The narrator explains that it's everything that's ever happened - and it's called history. The Squirrels are excited to learn about it, and luckily Duggee has his History Badge - and a home-made time machine - to give them a very interactive lesson all about it! The Squirrels go on a whistle-stop tour through time and encounter all manner of characters, from naughty prehistoric monkeys to pirates of the high seas, from Isaac Newton to Shakespeare, with everyone becoming inspired as they go. History is FUN - but eventually it's time to go home and collect their History Badges. Well done Squirrels!
The Art Badge

Tino the artistic mouse is in town for an art show he is putting on, and anyone can enter! The Squirrels are excited to get in on the action, but struggle with the idea of inspiration. Duggee and the narrator explain that inspiration is anything that gives you an idea, and that you can find it in lots of different places - such as nature, which inspires Norrie to make a collage, or your passions, which inspire Roly to make a potato out of a rock. The others are still struggling, but after learning that you can be inspired by your senses, your friends or even yourself, and that your art can be realistic, abstract, neat or messy, inspiration strikes them all in different ways. The Squirrels manage to submit their artwork in time for Tino's Woodland Biennale, earning their Art Badges in the process. Bravo Squirrels!
