Grace and Branson investigate a road traffic collision when an unexpected discovery suggests there is something more at play. CCTV reveals a blue pickup truck fleeing the accident after hitting the victim, which leads Grace to believe this may not have been an accident after all. But the hit-and-run driver seems to have vanished into thin air. Forensics identify the pickup driver as a convict who recently served time. His sister insists he's innocent and that she doesn't know where he's hiding but evidence found at her house suggests otherwise. When it is revealed this same man shared a cell with a heavyweight Brighton criminal while in prison, the case takes on a darker dimension. Soon Grace has another death on his hands. Spinella exacerbates problems for Roy when he releases confidential information about the case, ruining a major lead for Grace. The investigation now balances on a knife's edge as Grace scours the city for the pick up driver in a desperate attempt to save a life.
Dead Like You

Detective Superintendent Grace investigates the sexual attack of a young woman at the Royal Edward hotel on the night of Assistant Chief Constable Vosper's leaving do. The victim's account of the attack has distinct similarities to a cold case back in 2012, which Roy worked on as a Detective Sergeant, where the perp was dubbed 'The Brighton Prowler' - he left behind no DNA, but took a trophy from each victim. The original Prowler enquiry was frustratingly mishandled and headed up by an officer who was the last of an old breed. The attacker was never caught. Is this the same man, or could it be a copycat? When another woman is then attacked in her own home, Grace's instincts lead him to believe this is the same offender, who has now changed his MO from snatching victims off the streets to infiltrating their homes. Yet how is he still leaving no trace behind? Can Grace correct the mistakes of the past and find justice for the victims before the Prowler slips through his grasp?
