A road trip takes Frasier and Charlotte off the beaten path, and a series of misunderstandings turns three job interviews into a comedy of errors. Over coffee with Roz, Frasier can't resist confessing that he spent the previous night with Charlotte. Roz introduces Frasier to her friend, Amber Licious, a stripper who has agreed to perform at Martin's bachelor party. Frasier asks Amber to meet him at his condo that night to discuss the event. Charlotte's got an out-of-town business trip, so Frasier offers to drive her to the train station. En route, Charlotte stuns Frasier with the news that she's moving back to Chicago. Lost in conversation, Charlotte misses her train, and while racing to the next station, Frasier's car "dies" in the middle of nowhere. Stranded, Frasier calls Niles, who reluctantly agrees to pinch-hit for him at the meeting with Amber. Frasier and Charlotte have no choice but to spend the night at the farmhouse of a strange family, whose recently deceased matriarch's coffin is laid out in the living room. Back in Seattle, confusion ensues when Niles mistakes Martin's new physical therapist candidate for Amber, the stripper; Daphne interviews Amber, thinking she's applying to be a nanny; and Martin speaks with Amber about the physical therapist's post. The next morning, Frasier and Charlotte decide to make the most of the three weeks they have before Charlotte moves.

Step One: spotting an anthology of Irish plays in Charlotte's briefcase, Frasier bones up on all the great Irish writers. Step Two: he invites her to a romantic dinner at his favorite French restaurant. Unfortunately, Frank crashes the party and dominates the conversation. Frasier's efforts to impress Charlotte by quoting famous Irishmen fail once he learns Frank's the fan of Celtic literature, not her. Back at Frasier's place, Martin shows off the engagement ring he plans to give Ronee. But after admitting he originally bought the diamond for an ex-girlfriend, Daphne shames him into a buying another ring. Hoping to work his "magic," Frasier horns in on Charlotte's dates with Frank, who's oblivious to Frasier's feelings. Martin discovers that the new ring he bought at a police auction is inscribed to Lil' Cupid, a rapper whose goods were seized in a bust, so he covers his tracks by referring to Ronee as his "Lil' Cupid." Meanwhile, a spat between Charlotte and Frank emboldens Frasier to admit he cares for her, and they spend the night together. The next morning, Charlotte informs Frank that she's moving back to Chicago in several weeks - news she neglects to tell Frasier when she sends him off to work.

Eager to get over Charlotte, Frasier intellectualizes his emotions, yet even Roz can see Frasier's crazy about her. While Charlotte goes off on a camping trip with her boyfriend Frank, Roz takes Frasier on a trip to the local singles bar. Within minutes, Frasier meets a free-spirited woman named Kim, who invites herself home with him. Kim and Frasier's night of wild passion is thwarted by a series of pop-in visits by Niles, Daphne, Ronee, Betty, Martin, and finally, Charlotte, who fled the woods after a spat with Frank. After Kim bids Frasier goodnight, Charlotte stays to talk. Charlotte misinterprets Frasier's attempts to share his romantic feelings for her as advice to reconcile with Frank. Once Charlotte leaves, Frasier admits to Martin that he knows he should let her go, but he decides to fight for her anyway.

Niles and Daphne are considering having a natural birth for their child.

Afterwards, overcome with guilt, he persuades Niles to help him return the medal to Opal's apartment in secret.

Unfortunately, he scares Martin so much that he has a mild heart attack and ends up in hospital. While he is recovering, Martin asks Ronnee to marry him.

Ann reluctantly agrees to assess Frasier's apartment but while there, slips in Frasier's kitchen and breaks her leg. Worried that Ann will sue him, Frasier suggests that she stay with him until she gets used to her crutches. However, Ann is convinced that Frasier is in love with her, and refuses to leave. Meanwhile, Niles and Daphne try to retrieve an embarrassing painting from Maris's house.

Meanwhile, Daphne accidentally sets off Martin's gun in Frasier's apartment, which causes damage to some of Frasier's prized art possessions.

Meanwhile, Maris phones Niles desperate for help in dealing with an abusive Argentinian boyfriend. Niles agrees to meet Maris for lunch, and is about to tell Daphne when he changes his story and claims he was out planning a surprise baby shower for her. At the shower, Maris's boyfriend shows up and punches Frasier. Later, there is a news report that Maris has been arrested for her boyfriend's murder.

Since Liz is stunningly good-looking and Ann turns out to be a bore, Frasier tries to dump Ann so he can join Kenny and Liz at their table.
