Devil May Cry is an anime television series based on a popular video game franchise of the same name. The show is produced by WOWOW and animated by Madhouse, and stars Toshiyuki Morikawa, Luci Christian, Melissa Davis, Hilary Haag, Reuben Langdon, Misato Fukuen, Fumiko Orikasa, Atsuko Tanaka, Akio Ohtsuka, Nachi Nozawa, and Yumi Kakazu. The series follows the story of Dante, a half-human, half-demon mercenary who runs his own demon-hunting business called "Devil May Cry." Dante is the descendant of the legendary demon-sparring knight Sparda, and has inherited his father's powers and abilities. With his trusty sword and guns, Dante takes on various jobs from clients who hire him to take care of supernatural threats. Dante is a cocky and sarcastic anti-hero who enjoys taunting his enemies and belittling them with his sharp wit. But despite his bravado and tough exterior, he is also a complex character with a tragic backstory. He lost his mother and brother to demons when he was young, and has been haunted by their deaths ever since. This fuels his desire for revenge against all demons, especially those who cross his path. The show's first episode introduces Dante and his business partner, a 14-year-old girl named Patty Lowell, whom Dante rescues from a group of demons. Despite his reluctance, Dante takes Patty under his wing and eventually grows to care for her like family. Patty becomes a regular character on the show and provides much-needed comic relief, as well as a moral compass for the sometimes-jaded Dante. Other recurring characters on the show include Lady, a skilled demon hunter who sometimes works with Dante; Trish, a demon who looks like Dante's deceased mother and has a complicated relationship with him; and Morrison, a businessman who often hires Dante for jobs. One notable aspect of Devil May Cry is its action scenes, which are fast-paced, stylish and vibrant. The show features a lot of gunplay and sword fights, as well as supernatural abilities and special effects. The animation is top-notch and captures the essence of the video game franchise well. Overall, Devil May Cry is an entertaining and action-packed anime series that fans of the video game franchise are sure to enjoy. Its blend of humor, tragedy, and supernatural elements make it an engaging and memorable viewing experience.
