Bunk is a comedic game show, which aired on IFC from 2012 to 2013. Hosted by Kurt Braunohler, the show pits three comedians against each other in a series of bizarre and absurd challenges. Each round features a different theme, such as "Animal Novelties," "Internet Videos," or "Mega Lawsuits." The challenges themselves are often nonsensical and defy explanation. For example, one round titled "Human Sextipede" requires contestants to link themselves together in a human centipede-like formation, with each person reciting a part of a suggestive dialogue. In "The Ventriloquist's Testimony," contestants must lip-sync to the testimony of a ventriloquist dummy in a mock courtroom. In "Why is Pee Wee Herman Screaming?" contestants attempt to guess why a clip of Pee Wee Herman screaming is being played, with points awarded for the most creative answer. One of the show's most popular segments is "One-Star Reviews," in which contestants are asked to deliver a dramatic reading of a negative online review of a famous tourist destination, restaurant, or landmark. The readings are often exaggerated and over-the-top, with the contestants hamming it up for laughs. Throughout the show, Braunohler provides commentary and banter with the contestants. He also frequently interjects with his own jokes and quips, often at the expense of the contestants or the ridiculous challenges they are facing. Bunk was praised for its off-beat humor and inventive challenges. It featured a rotating roster of comedians, including Gabe Gronli and Patrick Grant, who brought their own unique comedic sensibilities to the show. The show also regularly featured celebrity guests, who were asked to participate in some of the challenges. Despite its critical acclaim, Bunk only ran for one season on IFC. However, its surreal and absurdist humor has made it a cult favorite among fans of alternative comedy.
