Being Human was a popular supernatural drama series, that originally aired on BBC One from 2008 to 2013. The show follows the lives of a ghost, a vampire, and a werewolf who share a house in Bristol, attempting to live as normal humans while hiding their supernatural identities. The series stars Lenora Crichlow as Annie, the ghost of the trio. Annie died in the house they all share and her inability to move on means that she's stuck in limbo, unable to leave the house that she haunts. Crichlow's performance as Annie is both heartwarming and tragic, as she seeks closure and acceptance from those around her. Russell Tovey plays George, the werewolf of the group. George is a shy and intelligent man, who struggles with his anger and the loss of his humanity. He works as a hospital porter and tries to have a normal life despite his condition. Tovey's portrayal of George is humorous and relatable, as he deals with everyday struggles alongside his supernatural ones. Finally, Aidan Turner stars as Mitchell, the group's vampire. Mitchell is the most human of the three and is often seen as the leader of the group. Although he is trying to keep his bloodlust under control, he occasionally gives in to temptation and tries to rebuild his life following a long period of isolation. Turner's performance as Mitchell is both charming and dark, as he tries to come to terms with his past mistakes. Other characters include Steven Robertson as the evil vampire Herrick, Sinead Keenan as Nina, George's girlfriend and fellow werewolf, Michael Socha as Tom, another werewolf who joins the group, Kate Bracken as Alex, a ghost who later joins the group, Gina Bramhill as Annie's love interest, and Damien Molony as Hal, a vampire who replaces Mitchell in the fourth series. The series revolves around the group's attempts to blend in with human society and contain their supernatural urges. They face challenges such as controlling their violent tendencies, avoiding detection by their human neighbors, and dealing with other supernatural creatures who threaten their existence. The show has received critical acclaim for its unique premise and excellent performances by the cast. It tackles themes of friendship, love, loss, and redemption in a supernatural setting, making it relatable despite the fantastical elements. Overall, Being Human is a well-written and well-acted series that manages to balance humor and horror, while also providing a deeper commentary on what it means to be human. The show remains a fan favorite and a must-watch for anyone interested in supernatural dramas.
