Ace Attorney is an animated television series following the adventures of rookie defense attorney Phoenix Wright, as he steps into the courtroom to defend his clients against almost impossible odds. Produced by A-1 Pictures and based on the popular video game series, Ace Attorney follows the storylines of the first three games - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Justice for All, and Trials and Tribulations. The series takes place in a fictional city called Los Angeles, where Phoenix Wright works under his mentor and boss, Mia Fey, defending his clients with all his might. His rival prosecutor, Miles Edgeworth, is always present in court, and the two become arch-nemesis as they compete to win their cases. Additionally, there are many eccentric and memorable characters throughout the series, including Wright's assistant Maya Fey, her mysterious older sister, his mentor's younger sister, and many more. The episodes are structured around various cases, each lasting typically two episodes, except for the final case which lasts for four. Each case is filled with plot turns and emotional moments that keep the viewers invested in the story until the very end. One of the key elements of the show is how each case is built up from a seemingly simple situation to a complete mess, where Phoenix Wright is tasked with uncovering important evidence and solving mysteries that will prove his clients' innocence. Overall, the show has a unique concept that makes it stand out from other legal dramas - the characters frequently use over-the-top reactions to hammer home important moments in each case. Often, this means characters will hold extended poses or floor themselves dramatically, with close-ups on their faces. This is where the show's humor comes in, and it works to keep the tone light and engaging - even when the cases are dark and serious. Another of the series' strengths is in its production value. The characters are all expertly animated, with fantastic voice acting that brings them to life. The graphics throughout the series are also excellent, with backgrounds and environments that excellently evoke the feel of a courtroom drama. The use of music is also notable, with many memorable scores playing over important scenes throughout the series. One of the most impressive things about Ace Attorney is that, even if you have no experience of the video game series whatsoever, you'll still be able to quickly pick up the stakes and immerse yourself in the story. With its excellently structured episodes, over-the-top reactions, and incredible characters, it's easy to become invested in the characters and their fates. In conclusion, Ace Attorney was one of the most entertaining legal dramas to come out in recent years. Its mix of drama and humor make it enjoyable to watch, even for viewers who do not typically enjoy legal dramas. The cast of characters is unique and charismatic, making each episode feel fresh and unique, while the animation and background music work seamlessly together to bring the unique world of the show to life. All in all, it's a fantastic series that should be on the watch-list for anyone interested in drama and comedy!
