Viola decides to confront her family's issues head-on and attempts to resolve their differences before it's too late. She gives each of them a list of tasks they need to accomplish before her death. The tasks range from reconciling relationships to finding a job to recovering from addiction. Along the way, the family members confront their personal demons and realize the importance of forgiveness, love, and family. The movie includes several emotional scenes, as each character reveals their struggles and secrets. There are also moments of humor, particularly in the interactions between Viola and Cecil. The performances by the cast are exceptional. Whoopi Goldberg delivers a powerful performance as Viola, bringing an emotional depth to the character. Ving Rhames also shines as Cecil, a flawed character who is trying to make amends for his past mistakes. Kimberly Elise is fantastic as Charlotte, portraying a strong and successful businesswoman who is vulnerable when it comes to her family.
