Initially taken aback by this momentous and sudden decision, Lucy (Beverley Mitchell) and Kevin (George Stults) ultimately decide to join Eric, Annie and the rest of the family - and extended family - on their exciting new adventure.

Eric's prayers are answered. When Eric awakes feeling "physically different" (but deliriously happy), Annie insists they go to the hospital for a check-up. In their haste, Annie leaves the twins home alone. A frantic Annie calls David and Sam, asking them to go next door to Lucy's, yet when they arrive, the house is empty: Lucy has followed Kevin to the hospital to await word of Eric's test results. Over at school, T-Bone admits he isn't ready to live up to the promise his promise ring implies, though he still loves Ruthie and wants to reunite. To his relief, she agrees. When the twins phone the Dairy Shack to order food, Margaret, Mac and Jane race to Lucy's place to take care of them. Across town, word of Eric's hospital visit spreads like wildfire, and the congregation gathers at church to pray for him. While Sandy tends to the congregation, Martin confronts Ruthie. He reveals he and Sandy have decided they'll never be more than "friends for life," and that as much as he likes Jane, Martin wants to date Ruthie exclusively. Although Ruthie's struck speechless by this revelation, T-Bone makes it clear Ruthie is his girlfriend, not Martin's. That evening, Eric stops by church to greet his parishioners. They're relieved to learn Eric's enlarged heart has returned to normal and that his prognosis is excellent. Despite this happy turn of events, Eric hints he might be ready to bid Glenoak farewell to do some traveling. Later, Annie and Eric are delighted when Lucy announces she and Kevin are expecting their second baby.

Martin also tries to sleep with Sandy again which pushes their relationship further away. Lucy is still avoiding her family, but she tells Kevin she is out apologizing to everyone for her sermon. Lucy is instead going to the movies where she meets T-Bone, who is romantically interested in her. Kevin gets upset about Lucy seeing another guy, especially one who is seven years younger then her. Kevin decides to go to the theater to talk with T-Bone and the two become friends.
