Ana de Armas stars as Isabel, a young woman working as a subway station attendant in New York City. The film begins with Isabel witnessing a strange and unsettling incident on the subway platform: a man suddenly bursts into flames, leaving no explanation as to how or why it happened. Isabel is haunted by this event and unable to shake the feeling that something was not right about it. Meanwhile, the film introduces us to Detective Scotty Galban, played by Keanu Reeves. Galban is investigating the murder of his partner and friend, Detective Joey Cullen (played by Danny Hoch). Cullen was working on an undercover case that involved corrupt cops and drug dealers, and it's clear that his work put him in danger. As Galban delves deeper into the investigation, he begins to suspect that there may be a connection between Cullen's murder and the strange incident on the subway platform. Through a series of flashbacks and dream sequences, we see that Isabel seems to have some sort of psychic connection to Cullen, and may hold the key to solving his murder. Christopher McDonald appears in a small but pivotal role as Lieutenant Galway, Galban's superior officer who is pressuring him to wrap up the case quickly. Galway is a tough, no-nonsense cop who is skeptical of Galban's theories about the subway incident and any supernatural elements that may be at play. As the investigation unfolds, Isabel and Galban's paths cross when he is assigned to investigate the subway incident. The two form an unlikely partnership as they work together to uncover the truth behind Cullen's murder and the strange events that seem to be connected to it. Exposed is a gritty, atmospheric thriller that combines elements of police procedural with supernatural and spiritual themes. The film's pacing is deliberate and sometimes slow, allowing the characters' inner lives and motivations to be explored in depth. Ana de Armas gives a standout performance as Isabel, a woman who is struggling to reconcile her psychic abilities with her everyday life. Keanu Reeves brings his signature stoicism and intensity to the role of Galban, a cop who is haunted by guilt and grief over his friend's death. The film's themes of justice, redemption, and spiritual awakening are woven throughout the narrative, giving it a weighty and thought-provoking tone. Director Gee Malik Linton creates a moody, atmospheric setting that adds to the film's ominous and foreboding mood. The cinematography is dark and shadowy, with lots of shots of rain-soaked streets and dimly lit interiors. While Exposed may not be for everyone, fans of moody thrillers with a spiritual edge will find plenty to appreciate here. The film is anchored by strong performances from its lead actors, and its themes of justice and redemption give it a deeper resonance than the average police procedural. Though the film's supernatural elements are not always fully explained, they add a layer of intrigue and mystery to the proceedings. Overall, Exposed is a visually striking and emotionally resonant thriller that is worth seeking out for fans of the genre.
