Heavyweights is a film that is directed by Steven Brill and is a comedy. The movie is about a camp for fat kids that has been overtaken by a fitness guru. The fitness guru part is played by Ben Stiller. The film is set at Camp Hope, the camp for kids who are overweight. The years' previous to this one where fun and exciting however, when the previous owners declare bankruptcy the camp is bought out. Once the camp is obtained by fitness guru, Tony Perkis, the fitness fanatic makes it his own personal goal to make sure these kids get into better shape. When campers are forced to enter into activities that are demanding as well as low carb diets, they band together to say enough is enough already. The campers will go onto rebel against the fitness guru. The start of the movie is set at the end of the school year where Gerry, a camper is being sent to the camp for the weight loss for boys. Gerry starts off the movie by being concerned but quickly becomes friends with some of the boys in the Chipmunk Cabin. He learns that in previous years, the camp was fun and will not be as bad as he believes it to be. Gerry will discover that many of the other campers smuggled in food that is not allowed. It is the smuggled in food that helps the campers ease the pain of hunger as the junk food portion helps. The basis of this is to show that even though you are working out and making it appear as if you are eating properly, the weight loss that would have been seen is counter reacted by the junk food. It is on the first night that it is revealed that the previous owners are no longer the owners and the fitness guru has bought the camp instead. This is where Tony Perkis announces that he will run the program himself and will work out a strict regimen that will get the kids back into top shape. He makes it appear as if the children can look to him as he tells them at their age, he was fat too. The methods that he uses are made to look a bit psychotic. When the camp is overtaken, the boys place Tony into a cell that was created out of chicken wire and a bug zapper. In the celebration of the overtaking, a binge eating of all the banned foods takes place. There are a number of camp counselors who will order pizza and sub sandwiches for the kids to eat as well as chocolate and soda pop. It is the next morning where a counselor steps forward and opens up to the kids to inform them he has been attending this same camp since he was ten. He tells the kids that it is time they start taking responsibility for their actions and begins to lose weight. This is when the kids make changes and make camp fun once more, but with healthier decisions. Overall, if you want to sit laughing for an hour and more, this movie is a good choice to see while watching Ben Stiller.
